Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives & Affected Areas Program

Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives & Affected Areas Program

Supporting People and Communities — created by the people, for the people, the Columbia Basin Trust (CBT) serves the residents of the Canadian portion of the Columbia River Basin. Working closely with people who live in the Basin, CBT assists communities in addressing their needs by:
  • providing resources and funding;
  • focusing on local priorities and issues;
  • bringing people together around key issues;
  • providing useful, credible, accessible information;
  • encouraging collaboration and partnerships; and,
  • seeking ongoing input from Basin residents.
The CBT provides funding and grants through a variety of programs from Arts, Culture, and Heritage to Business Advocacy to Environment to Scholarships to Community Development. In addition, CBT supports regional initiatives such as Climate Change Adaptation, Water Stewardship, Literacy, Youth Engagement, and Land Conservation.

CBT Community Initiatives & Affected Areas Program (CBT CI & AAP) funds have been working for the residents of Golden and Area A since 1998. Between 1998 and 2009, the CBT CI & AAP has provided $2.2 M to worthy community projects through a competitive application basis.

Through the Columbia Basin Trust’s Community Initiatives & Affected Areas Programs, the Foundation has helped award over $1 M to community projects since 2005.
